The Portuguese Language
In Portugal, the official spoken language is Portuguese which
is a similar language to Sicilian
Italian. It is also spoken in some other countries like Brazil and Angola. Portuguese
is the sixth most spoken language in the world, with many people speaking this
language as well as learning it too.
The Portuguese language is usually given the title of being a ‘sweet and gracious’ language. UNESCO have predicted that by 2050, there will be 83 million speakers in the world.
Depending on where you my travel in Portugal, there could be a different dialect, some words or meaning of phrases could vary. Towards the north of Portugal, the dialect is known as Nortenho, and towards the south, the dialect is called, Estremenho.
